Walk Back to Orange Road…

I think it was back in the olden days I talk about a lot whenever I start talking about anime and how I got into it. In having to familarize myself with Kimagure Orange Road again lately (for the fifth episode of the radio show), I have sort of returned to that day when I realized exactly how awesome this series is and the memories it carries with it. This was back in the days before I got married; when I guess you could say I was innocent and naive. I was working at Acer’s technical support division back then, on the graveyard shift. I would work at night and then watch anime as I fell asleep during the day. This is how I watched Ranma, Tenchi, Gundam, Megamisama, Sailor Moon, and of course… Orange Road.

Orange Road continues to be one of the coolest and interesting stories I’ve seen in anime ever. Nothing comes close to this story insofar as plot, characters, or outcome. Sure, it tackles all the typical subplots, but even then, KOR is above all the rest in the manner in which it is employed. Not to mention that the characters are just amazing; I’ve been in love with Ayukawa Madoka since the first time I had seen her. And then there’s Jingoro… the poor cat that has to survive through the whole series. ๐Ÿ™‚ But more than that, there’s also the music. This series has some of the memorable music ever, from Natsu no Mirage to Kagami no naka no Actress and of course, Dance in the Sweet Memories.

And this is also the series that brought me Ushiko and Umao ๐Ÿ™‚

I love being an anime fan. If only because KOR reminds me all that was once good with anime and can be again (apologies to Mr. Kinsella for the paraphrase). I’d like to think that as a fan, I appreciate this artform even more when I see KOR and remember everything that came with it.

I wouldn’t dare touch the name; I would rather date the fictional character. ๐Ÿ™‚
