I should have known better than to leave a loaded post like that last one lying around. I also wrote it a little wrong, it should have read ‘some of my friends,’ as opposed to simply ‘friends.’ This has little to do with the wrap of a season of shows (although it was the straw that broke my back) and more to do with the fact that some of my friends seemed less than interested in anything I do, unless its something I do to benefit them. Let me say this first; that last statement does not apply to all of my friends. However, suffice to say that enough of them have reacted in such a fashion that has made me beleive that my friendship has been taken advatange of.

And I do realize that holiday plans interfered with this weekend, but to mark some of my conversations: one friend told me they didn’t feel like it (with no further explanation), another said they just didn’t care, and yet another said they wouldn’t know anyone else but me there and then declined. This was not simply a conflict of schedules nor short notice (as I made mentioned of this earlier in the week or month); it was a lack of support or interest.

What-fucking-ever.

I went, I wrapped, the staff and I partied, then I went to the beach in Pacifica for a little bit to clear my head. I feel a lot better. Oh, and we’re going to kick some serious fucking ass next season.

If you don’t feel like it, you don’t feel like it — not everyone’s comfortable at a party, or hell, maybe their grandmother died and they just don’t feel like being social. Same with not knowing anyone but you. (I usually hate that kind of situation, especially if I’m not close to the person who’s asking me in the first place. It’s fucking awkward.)

Asking someone to a party isn’t the same as asking people for their undying pledge to help save your life. People regard party invitations as casual things; if they can make it, they can make it — if they can’t, they can’t. You’ve got plenty of friends to be there when you actually need them.

And we are going to kick some serious fucking ass next season. Hell, I even got people from my school tuning in tonight to get a taste of Unwound.

I’m talking about a pattern, as opposed to an isolated incident.

I know the feeling of having friends who mail it in and don’t seem to care. I also know the feeling of dumping those assholes.
