You know, I was watching a television program before with a sort of a roving moderator who spoke to a seated panel of young women who were having some sort of problems with their boyfriends. Apparently, because the boyfriends have all slept with the girlfriend's mothers. Then they brought all the boyfriends out and they fought right there on television. Toby, tell me, these people don't vote, do they?

NaNoWriMo: Annoyance Number One

Posted by jetblack on October 30th, 2005

So, I joined NaNoWriMo to write the next book in the Knight saga, and I’m being inundated with emails from the regional peoples. They basically set up all these events where ideas are exchanged and ‘write-in’s where I guess people bring their writing tools and write for three hour stretches? I’m not entirely sure I’d feel comfortable with that, especially if someone asks me to help them while I’m trying to make my own deadline. I don’t want to sound like a total prick, but when I’m in the middle of writing, the last thing I want is any kind of interruption. That’s why I prefer to find a nice little niche somewhere in the house, sit down, play some music or TV in the background and write until my muscles just can’t take anymore for the day or my mind has turned into mush from trying to expose more about my characters while also trying to drive the plot.

I’m thinking that if these guys put like half the effort into writing as they do into setting all these events up, then they’ll write two novels in the month of November. :) I just want to write, man.. I don’t need parties or mixers or write-ins.

In other news: I’m more than halfway done with plotting my second book. Thanks to Abbie who was on the phone for most of yesterday with me bouncing ideas and plot points off of each other, I’m excited about the book and I /so/ want to start writing it right now! :) I think it’s going to be a much better entry than Knight Commander, since I spent a lot of time developing the characters previously and now I don’t have to worry about any of that this time around. I can just let the characters be the characters. :)

Totally Random, and yet kind of funny

Because we just needed to go one step further with phone sex. Where’s my full body suit with resevior pouch? Read and be amused.

Knight Commander: FINISHED

IT. IS. DONE.

Holy shit, it’s done. I can’t beleive that I finished an entire book. Below is the final word count meter. I’m going to drink heavily, now. We should celebrate!

Writing Milestone

Posted by jetblack on October 28th, 2005

I have written the 100,000th word of this book. It was ‘minutes’ and it was in the fifteenth chapter. I’ve never written 100,000 words in any one writing project, ever. This is huge.

Knight Commander: Chapter Fourteen

Posted by jetblack on October 27th, 2005

Chapter Fourteen is done! Only one more chapter to go and I’m finished with the first draft. I’ve already begun plotting the outline for my next book, which is the sequel to this one. Right now, it’s called Untitled #27 ;) Great title, right?

Knight Commander: Update

Posted by jetblack on October 26th, 2005

OKay, so I got a little stuck on writing chapters fourteen and fiften, and so I sort of skipped ahead and wrote the epilogue instead. Look, if I get stuck, I just skip ahead and sometimes it helps me fill in the rest. It’s a technique I learned at a workshop :P Anyway, so the epilogue turned out great, and I’m pretty happy with it. Oh, and here’s the day’s stats:

Knight Commander: Chapter Thirteen

Posted by jetblack on October 21st, 2005

Chapter Thirteen has been completed. I have two chapters and an epilogue to go before I head into the first major edit phase of the book. I’m rethinking my final word count yet again, and thinking that I might actually break 100,000 words. By the way, my total word count for the month of October is listed below the stats for the day.

Knight Commander: Update

Okay, so I killed chapter thirteen and merged it with chapter twelve because it didn’t make any sense to break up the flow of the story like that. So, chapter sixteen is now chapter fifteen, and all the remaining chapters have now moved up a notch.
