NaNoWriMo: Annoyance Number One

So, I joined NaNoWriMo to write the next book in the Knight saga, and I’m being inundated with emails from the regional peoples. They basically set up all these events where ideas are exchanged and ‘write-in’s where I guess people bring their writing tools and write for three hour stretches? I’m not entirely sure I’d feel comfortable with that, especially if someone asks me to help them while I’m trying to make my own deadline. I don’t want to sound like a total prick, but when I’m in the middle of writing, the last thing I want is any kind of interruption. That’s why I prefer to find a nice little niche somewhere in the house, sit down, play some music or TV in the background and write until my muscles just can’t take anymore for the day or my mind has turned into mush from trying to expose more about my characters while also trying to drive the plot.

I’m thinking that if these guys put like half the effort into writing as they do into setting all these events up, then they’ll write two novels in the month of November. ๐Ÿ™‚ I just want to write, man.. I don’t need parties or mixers or write-ins.

In other news: I’m more than halfway done with plotting my second book. Thanks to Abbie who was on the phone for most of yesterday with me bouncing ideas and plot points off of each other, I’m excited about the book and I /so/ want to start writing it right now! ๐Ÿ™‚ I think it’s going to be a much better entry than Knight Commander, since I spent a lot of time developing the characters previously and now I don’t have to worry about any of that this time around. I can just let the characters be the characters. ๐Ÿ™‚

I write best when I have my perfect setup; computer in my room, music blaring, lots of water and snacks on hand, and nofuckinbody around to bug me.
