    The West Wing #1.05:

I understand that today was another one of Leo's 'big block of cheese' days! You all start out so cynical, but it never fails. By the end of the day, there's always one or two converts, right? And today was no exception. C.J. Cregg is gonna be up all night writing a position paper for the Interior department on the necessity of wildlife protection. C.J., I don't mind the cost of this wolves-only highway. It's the segregation. The ACLU is gonna file a petition on behalf of some reindeer and then we're all screwed! Sam Seaborn had a guy who spotted a UFO today, am I right? Sam laughed him out of his office, but you've been thinking about it ever since. But you can rest assured, Sam. It was not a spaceship from another planet, just another time. A long since abandoned Soviet satellite, one of its booster rockets didn't fire and it couldn't escape the earth's orbit. A sad reminder of a time when two powerful nations challenged each other and then boldly raced into outer space. What will be the next thing that challenges us, Toby? That makes us work harder and go farther? You know, when smallpox was eradicated, it was considered the single greatest humanitarian achievement of this century. Surely, we can do it again. As we did in the time when our eyes looked towards the heavens, and with outstretched fingers, we touched the face of God. Here's to absent friends, and the ones that are here now.

New Phone, New Job, New Life

Posted by jetblack on January 26th, 2006

Okay, well, no so much with the last part…

I did get a new phone and then I got a new job, though. The number for this phone shall be placed in a protected post later… but I like my new phone a little better than my old one because it does true tones and my old one did only poly. Also it has a camera on it, and I took a picture of ’s rack and it’s now my wallpaper. It was her idea, but now I love opening my phone.

I will be starting my new job at Transera on Monday where I have been told that I shall be worked really hard. That’s fine by me, especially after all my references said that they were checked out thoroughly (each of them had to fill out a 15-question essay form about me). One of them told me that they hoped I got the job because they weren’t going through that for me ever again. The job is basically what I’ve been doing for the past 6 years; Operations. But now my salary is way higher than normal so hey… I’m all for it. Finally I’m making the kind of money I’ve only fantasized about. This is good because I want to make enough to support the both of us until after the wedding so Julia doesn’t have to work (doing all the planning for the wedding is enough of an occupation, I think). All that’s left now is signing the paperwork, at this point.

How long before pitchers and catchers report to spring training? I miss baseball.
