    The West Wing #3.18:

Outraged? I'm barely surprised. This is a country where women aren't allowed to drive a car. They're not allowed to be in the company of any man other than a close relative, they're required to adhere to a dress code that would make the Mary Knoll Nun look like Malibu Barbie. They beheaded a hundred twenty-one people last year for robbery, rape, and drug trafficking. They've no free press. No elected government. No political parties. And the royal family allows the religious police to travel in groups of six; carrying nightsticks and they freely and publicly beat women. But, "Brutus is an honorable man." Seventeen schoolgirls were forced to burn alive because they weren't wearing the proper clothing. Am I outraged? No, Steve. No, Chris. No, Mark. That is Saudi Arabia, our partners in peace. Bonnie, then Scott.

Interesting…

Remember before, when I wrote that the room heats up fierce? It’s because there’s a SmartPak 3000 (UPS unit) sitting underneath my desk. It has an extended power pack underneath and whenever it cools off (by blowing out the hot air at my legs), the room is sweltering shortly after. Anyway, I asked my CTO about it, and he told me, “It belongs to you. You’re supposed to use it for the NOC equipment and servers.” WTF?! Holy fuck, are you kidding me?

I need a small rack in here. Now.

Dude…

Grandpa Munster is dead. :(
He outlived Fred Gwynne (Herman Munster), though, which was surprising. I feel like another piece of my childhood has flittered away. :/

I came in early today in the hopes of talking with the resident network engineer, but for the second time in a row, he’s not shown up for work when he’s supposed to. So, I’m literally just marking time until he shows up so I can get my servers ip’ed and on the internal network. Until then, I’m working on other stuff, but it’s nagging at me in the back of my mind… I hate it when I’m moving quickly on a project, only to be stalled by something outside my control. It’s really frustrating, especially when it’s caused by the unexplained absence of a co-worker.

Man, I love this job.

In the meantime, I’m working on a weekly task list for myself… because if I don’t, i’m going to blunder through this week all unfocused and shit. And I have a lot to do here.
