    The West Wing #3.10:

Okay. Well... I'll just call the President and suggest to him that he allow a huge bipartisan vote on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives calling him a liar, and that he welcome the result. Then, I'm gonna flap my wings and fly to Neverland. You think I am so desperate to cover my ass, I'm gonna roll over on Jed Bartlet? I take a bullet for the President. He doesn't take one for me. Is that all you got?

Baseball Bias: REMINDER: First Articles due Saturday!

Posted by jetblack on March 27th, 2006

This is just a friendly reminder, that will be posted on the mailing list, my LJ, and also the forums.. that your first article of the season is due on Saturday, April 1, 2006. Topics to help you get started were posted in the forums. You should already have logged in to the forums and checked in with everyone there by now. If not, I’m going to assume you don’t want to write for us anymore.

Please make sure you get it in by 10pm Saturday night. If you cannot make your deadline, please let me know. If you’re having problems getting start, please let me know. If you’re having second thoughts about writing for us, please let me know.

Notice the key part of that paragraph is letting me know. A lack of communication just pisses me off. If you let me know, I won’t be pissed.

Thank you.

So, I did the fantasy auction today for the BayCities league. Tap and I own a team called the Hope Station Giants and the buy-in is $200 plus web expenses (usually around $20). The auction is prety cool, and I had a lot of fun with it last year because there was a lot of trash talk, and a lot of people who’re snagging players that others wanted. Last year was my first real experience with an actual live draft in person (I’d done several online live drafts). This year, the venue was moved from San Jose to San Francisco, and while I was expecting to spend 12 hours, we spent only 8 hours if you don’t include the lunch break. By the time I got to the end of the draft, I was pretty loopy from having a major headache and I was just wanting to get out of there and back home.

I’m pretty satisfied with our team. We didn’t pay more than 60 bucks for any player (the most expensive was $55 for Todd Helton and K-Rod). Last year, I paid $109 for A-Rod and $65 for Nomar, taking away more than a quarter of my salary cap before the draft begun.

The grand prize is $1200 this year :) I hope we can contend for it.
