Did you vote today?

I voted this morning. Did you?

If you’ve decided not to vote, consider the following bits of wisdom from various sources:

  • “It’s really something; every two years we get to overthrow a government.” — Aaron Sorkin.
  • “Decisions are made by those who show up.” — Woody Allen.
  • “One of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors.” — Plato

And if Plato’s wisdom doesn’t convince you to head to your local polling place today, then you don’t get to complain about how your government fails you.

Because you failed to live up to your end of the bargain.

I didn’t vote. Not my decision, although I suppose you could say it was — I missed the absentee ballot application by a day. Got them wrong in my head.

I voted. Although, I can tell you my votes didn’t count for much since I really didn’t vote for any “popular” party. I’m sick of the mudslinging the parties throw at each other during election time. As I have said before, if you’re going to make a campaign ad, tell us what YOU are gonna do ONLY. Don’t slam on anyone else. Don’t make false statements. Don’t spin shit. The attack ads here in Colorado were so bad it left a bad taste to a lot of people. I talked to 5 people in the voting line waiting… they 4 of them said exactly what I was thinking, and then I started a discussion with them about it. We all agreed. It’s just terrible. People lying to one-up each other. I was tired of hearing attack ads about Marilyn Musgrave and Angie Paccioni which neither I can even vote on since they’re for another district. The mudslinging was so bad between the donkey and the elephant it just made me sick. I’m glad it’s over. at least for another 8 months. The lady at the registration table for my precinct said that only 199 people turned out to vote today total, the rest either didn’t vote, or had voted absentee. Out of a city with more than a million people, and a precinct of at least 200,000 I find it disgusting. They said on Presidential elections they see way more people.

Anyways, I voted. None of my votes will really count since I was against most everything everyone else wanted as the majority rule, but at least my 1 vote went for the american constitution guy and the libertarian.

If you didn’t vote, sit down and step aside spectator. There is no reason for not voting. It’s your right. there was 12 hours here that allowed people to get in line to vote. more than enough time.
