Leaving on a Jet Plane…

So, I’ve decided to leave LiveJournal. This isn’t a joke. My last day will be November 23rd. It’s been a nice run since April 2002, about five years and six months of blogging. And, of course, I won’t forget the friends I’ve made through LJ. If you want to keep in touch, reply here and I’ll include you in on where I’ll be leaving to.

LiveJournal’s just become a little too arbitrary for me in their policies and the like. It’s gone from this awesome community of people to something like the day after AOL gave their users USENET access. A cavalcade of crap that never stops. Rather than continue to give LJ money or suffer through the basic account nightmare after having had this account for so long, I’ve decided to just archive my posts and take my leave.

Just to be clear: no one has pushed me away from LJ. I didn’t have a fight with anyone or a group/community. I just have had enough of LJ’s bullshit.

In 20 days from tomorrow, I’ll delete the account for good.

And someone else can have my username.

I’ve been getting more and more tired with the way LJ has been going, myself. I don’t use it as much as I used to and while I already have a WordPress account I’m mostly keeping that for sports-related photography.

I will need to keep in touch with you though, partially because I want to but also because if there’s still a chance to get something figured out with the Coppermine stuff I’d like to go back to that – maybe come 2008.

I have a permanent account which (I think) shields me from a lot of the crap. But do keep in touch.

Sad to hear it, but I can understand it, too.

  1. Yo man, it’s Mark from the NOC at wm.com. You really leaving LJ? Damn I need to add more friends man! lol

What you just said about this place smacks of how I felt before I resigned from Walmart two weeks ago. I even considered Yahoo as well…as it is, even though I’ve received offers for Sys Ad jobs here and there I am heading out to Japan next week or two to try my luck there. Got a little gig with a ‘company’ in Saitama that is opening up a place in Nishi Azabu, non-IT related. Keep in touch and if you make it out there, I’ll buy you a drink at 911 and we can talk sh*t about various managers we know, lol.

You resigned from Walmart, eh? Who’s still over there, then?

Best of luck in Japan. πŸ™‚ I wish I could go.

  2. From the old timers? Hmmm…

Rob is the NOC Manager, Oliver is there, Michael is there, George is there…

Michael and George are only still there because they probably don’t interview well, and Oliver is there till he can’t take two jobs anymore. Apparently HE does interview well heh.

Yep, I resigned man. Jon N is the biggest piece of shit liar that I’ve had the misfortune for taking at face value. They have a new senior manager now, and the guy is great. I just got screwed over promotion way too much for my pride to let me stay.

Besides I do have Japan, and thanks man.
