    The West Wing #3.10:

Okay. Well... I'll just call the President and suggest to him that he allow a huge bipartisan vote on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives calling him a liar, and that he welcome the result. Then, I'm gonna flap my wings and fly to Neverland. You think I am so desperate to cover my ass, I'm gonna roll over on Jed Bartlet? I take a bullet for the President. He doesn't take one for me. Is that all you got?

Today’s Holidailies prompt is: “Tell us a story about snow.”

I honestly have not been up to the snow in quite some time.  The last time I saw snow fall was actually while I was visiting Abbie in Philadelphia in February 2005.  I flew to Philly with my California clothes, which I guess was a dumb thing to do since the temperature differences were so dramatic, that I caught cold the second day I was there.  She was pretty much laughing at me because I was standing around in twenty degree weather, wearing nothing but a t-shirt and shorts.  And folks, this was some ass-biting cold weather to stand around outside the airport in.  I thought I had survived some harsh winters when I was visiting in Montana, but east coast cold is bone-chilling cold.

In the middle of the first week I was there, snow fell for half a foot.  Not a lot, but since the last time I’d seen snow up close was over a decade prior, I enjoyed myself.  And yes, I was wearing a thin t-shirt and shorts, no shoes, no socks, and I walked outside to see if I could stand it.  And to take the garbage out for Abbie.  I lasted all of four or five seconds before darting back into the house and waiting to feel my feet again.  Christ, that was some cold shit!  I wasn’t going to stay out there and try to make snow angels, either.  Not without some serious thermal underwear, ski jackets, and ski boots on.

By the way, I caught cold the next day, and like a moron, I was actually surprised by it.

In other news, my on-call week is coming to a close, which is a good thing.  I haven’t had a call all day, but I’ve been chasing critical pages (the next best thing to getting a phone call).  I might actually get a full night’s sleep.  Of course, now that I’ve said that, my night is totally jinx’ed, now, right?

I managed to pick up one present since the beginning of the Christmas season (Black Friday).  I think we’re going to bake a metric ton of cookies and give those out as gifts this year, because we’re living paycheck to paycheck these days.  Anyway, I’m looking forward to tomorrow, and I’m going to decide what day this week will be my comp day that I earned for working my ass off on Friday night.  Should it be Monday?  Tuesday?  Wednesday?  What do you guys think?
