A West Wing Christmas

For those of you who don’t know, yet (and I cannot imagine that there’s very many of you left), I happen to be a mild fan of The West Wing. Mild may be understating it a bit. There are times when my wife wishes she had married someone else for the amount of times I have sat through seven seasons of this show from start to finish without fail. And always with the questions, “What season are you on?” so she can prepare for the tears that inevitably come at the end of the seventh season for reasons I cannot mention (in case someone out there has not yet seen the end of the series, and doesn’t wish for me to spoil it).

For the record, I love spoilers.

Anyway, I watch TV on my iPod while I’m at work. Generally, I watch whatever I have on and from time to time, I rotate programs because my iPod is only 60 gigs and I’m limited on space. Video takes up 3 times more space than music does, so I have to be choosy about what goes on the iPod. I have, at one time or another, had Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Ugly Betty, Band of Brothers, Battlestar Galactica, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, House M.D., Law & Order, Numb3rs, Psych, The Office, and of course, The West Wing. Out of all of these titles, The West Wing is the only one that’s remained on my iPod since I got it. That’s saying something.

I like having all seven seasons handy, just in case I get a hankering for some good ol’ fashioned Sorkinese, you know?

Anyway, this year, I’m going to be watching all of the Christmas episodes in order. That’s “In Excelsis Deo,” “Noel,” “Bartlet for America,” “Holy Night,” and “Abu El Banat.” The sixth and seventh seasons were slowed down to stretch the candidacy of Santos and Vinick, so unfortunately there are no further Christmas episodes than the fifth season. The other series I plan to be watching Christmas episodes for?

Friends.

Question: What are your television/movie Christmas traditions?
