A long time ago, I used to have two machines under my desk. One of which wa snamed swordfish, the other was named redtail. I named them after the two fighters from Cowboy Bebop. I think that redtail used to be known as mihoshi on the otaking.org network. Swordfish was my new Win2k box, that I could use on the network as a word processor or internet machine, while redtil was my gaming box. Eventually though, redtail died, and swordfish was cannibalized into what is now jetblack. Yesterday, I took a small part of my severence and purchased a laptop for school. I’m letting borrow ein for school, while I use this new laptop. The problem with ein was that it required an unusually high amount of daily/weekly maintenance just to use, which was getting on my nerves, but then what can you expect from a laptop that was bought on clearance from Fry’s, an open box, and already had to have a part replaced in the last six months since buying it?

Swordfish, the new laptop, is pretty snazzy when compared to ein. The screen is WXGA, allowing me to do 1200×800, though I do miss the other 304 pixels at times, though this resolution is more my speed. Ein required me to stay at 1024×768 all the time, and while I’ve gotten used to it, I run 1280×1024 at home on all my machines, so when I’m typing, I’m used to being able to see as much information on my screen as possible.

In other news, we finally got the JTAF staff group running at Yahoo! Groups. I tried to set up the forums at jtaf.com, but for some reason, my php kung fu is just not good enough… I’ll need to turn to for assistance, since she’s got her kung fu running pretty well at dewdrop garden. Tasukete kudasai!
