Well… here I am…

It’s an obscure and general quotation, but a cookie goes to whomever figures out where it’s from.

I went to work rather early this morning. I had to do a lot of equipment moves and I didn’t want to do it in the middle of the work day because the corridor leading to my new office is kind of tight and located in the back of the building where the HR and product marketing people sit. My counterpart in the technical support department and I are both moving into offices and we got allocated a common war room to operate from in cases of major incidents, which is nice… the kicker is we both have to do all the labor ourselves, instead of having someone else do it. Our VP pointed out that she did her part way back when the company first started by building all of the desk by hand herself.

Anyway, so here I sit in my new office, surrounded on all sides by monitors and mid-towers that I’m not sure what to do with. I only needed like one in addition to my workstation, so I’m overwhelmed by what I actually have. The nice thing about this office is it’s out of the way and I can close the door when I need to. The not so nice thing is that this room has little in the way of ventilation and if I have more than one machine going at a time, the room heats up fierce. Right now, I have the door propped open and the hall vent system is feeding this room nicely. I guess if I have to take a phone call or something, I’ll play through the pain.

Oh, and for my roommates: the speakers didn’t work. I think the power cord is not feeding power to the subwoofer… this totally blows. I have to use the craptacular PC speaker for any kind of audio. Suckage.

Quotation of the Day

America isn’t easy. America is advanced citizenship. You’ve got to want it bad, because it’s gonna put up a fight. It’s gonna say, “You want free speech? Let’s see you acknowledge a man whose words make your blood boil; who is standing center stage and advocating at the top of his lungs that which you would spend a lifetime opposing at the top of yours. You want to claim this land as the ‘land of the free’? Then the symbol of your country cannot just be a flag. The symbol also has to be one of its citizens exercising his right to burn that flag in protest. Now show me that, defend that, celebrate that in your classrooms. Then you can stand up and sing about the ‘land of the free.'”
